William J. Higgins Jr

Passed on September 16, 2023
Resident of Holbrook, MA

William J. Higgins, Jr., of Holbrook, passed away September 16, 2023, at the age of 75. Bill was born in Quincy to the late William and Esther (Powers) Higgins. Devoted husband to his wife of 51 years, Kathleen (O’Brien) Higgins. Loving father of Timothy Higgins and wife Kara of Pawtucket, RI, and Molly Walsh and husband Sean of Braintree. Beloved Papa of Luke Higgins, and Matthew and Christopher Walsh. Cherished brother of Kathleen Gill of Quincy, Mary Wessling and her husband Steve of Milton, and Anne Perry of Milton. Fondly remembered as “Uncle Billy” by his many nieces and nephews.

Bill was an avid Boston sports fan who loved vacationing in the DR with his wife Kathy, playing golf with his friends, enjoyed the challenge of a crossword puzzle and found peace on a yoga mat. Forever curious, he was quick to share random facts on a variety of subjects and was known to be so enthusiastic about recommending a good movie that he would often accidentally give away the ending. He couldn’t carry a tune but didn’t let that stop him from singing along to songs he loved. Bill never met a stranger and was most happy when in the company of family, especially his best friends – his three grandsons. He was also a proud Vietnam Veteran.

Funeral from the Hurley Currie Funeral Home, 127 So. Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Holbrook on Thursday, September 21st at 10:45am followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph Church in Holbrook at 11:30am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 20th from 4-7pm. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Braintree “Super Saturdays Program”, and mailed to Braintree High School, Attn: Super Saturdays, 128 Town St, Braintree, MA, 02184.

Always remember the great times at QHS and how we would skip night school to watch Bobby Orr and the Bruins

A good friend and golf partner for many years. Always made us laugh. Never a bad word about anyone. He will be missed, and I'll think of often, especially when I hit a bad shot.

Bill, it saddens me to know that I won't see you again for your next haircut. I used to look forward to our silly and funny conversation while cutting your hair. Rest in peace my Friend. 🙁
