Stephen R. McCarthy, of Avon, passed away peacefully at home on October 15, 2023 at the age of 69. Beloved husband of Karen (O’Brien) McCarthy. Loving father of Brian McCarthy and his wife Corinne of E. Bridgewater, Matthew McCarthy and his wife Laura of Braintree, Stephen McCarthy and his wife Tayla of Pembroke, and Colleen (McCarthy) Madar and her husband Shaun of Plymouth. Cherished brother of Paula (McCarthy) Lyons and her husband Dietmar, and the late Robert and Michael McCarthy. Beloved Grampy to 8 beautiful grandchildren: Rylee & Khloe McCarthy, Emma & Bobby McCarthy, Ryan & Angela McCarthy, and Danny & Hayley Madar. Son of the late Robert and Patricia McCarthy. Also fondly remembered as “Uncle Steve” by his many nieces and nephews.

Steve worked as a diesel mechanic for the MBTA for 28 years. He loved traveling to Aruba, loved Chatham, antiques, took pride in his beautiful home and yard, and most of all, loved spending time with family and friends.

Funeral from the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St. (Rt. 28), Randolph, on Friday, October 20th at 10:15am followed by a funeral mass at St. Michael Church in Avon at 11am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, October 19th from 4-8pm. Interment private.

    He loved to laugh and it
    Wasn't that I was a great comedian. He just loved to laugh and smile. Plus he was a very strong man never complaining about his health. Also, he was a great friend to my sister and her husband and many others My sincere condolences to Karen and the rest of the McCarthy family.
