Robert K. Davis, Jr.
February 29, 1940 – April 5, 2026
Resident of Randolph, MA
Robert Kenny Davis Jr. passed away peacefully in his home with his dear wife and family at his side on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026. Bob, a Leap Year baby, came in to this world on February 29, 1940 in San Lorenzo, New Mexico.
Junior, as he was affectionally known by his family, along with his three siblings – brother Walter and sisters Ruth and Cleo – were raised by his mother Cleo Davis around Las Cruces, New Mexico after his father, Robert Kenny Davis Sr., passed away while he was a young boy.
After high school, Bob joined the US Army in 1959 and was assigned to serve with the Third Armored Division in Germany, where he met and married his wife Brigitte in 1962 in her hometown Hanau. Bob served the majority of his 20-year military career in various armor and artillery assignments in V Corps in Germany, during which time he and Brigitte were blessed with a son Dino and daughter Deanna, who were both born at the U.S. Army 97th General Hospital in Frankfurt.
Bob, a retired major and decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Silver Star, Bronze Star for Valor and Purple Heart while serving with the First Cavalry Division in Vietnam. In addition, Bob earned numerous other decorations during his Army career, including the Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross and Vietnam Service Medal.
Following his Army career, Bob continued serving his country as a Department of the Army Civilian in Germany as a realty specialist in Frankfurt, Heidelberg and Kaiserslautern for 12 years before returning to the United States in 1991 to join the Department of Housing and Urban Development in Boston. Bob retired from HUD in 2002 after 43 years of military and federal service to our country. His life-long service to our country is evidence of his strong patriotism and deep love for the United States of America. In keeping with this, Bob will find his final resting place in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
After retiring, Bob enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family. Bob was known for his sense of humor and ability to make others smile. He had a skill for being able to repair almost anything and received great satisfaction in making things like new again for family, friends and neighbors. Like other members of his family, Bob was a talented artist who loved to paint with both oil and watercolors and to draw and sketch as well. His artistic talent was not only enjoyed by family and friends, but also by colleagues that requested custom art from him. Lastly, Bob’s culinary skills in the kitchen and at the grill will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to savor his cooking. Festivities and gatherings were always celebrated by enjoying his and Brigitte’s cooking, the favorite family meal being potato salad and fried chicken along with barbequed ribs.
Bob was a devoted husband, loving father and caring grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Brigitte, son Dino and daughter-in-law Lorie, daughter Deanna and son-in-law Hacho, six grandchildren: Katie, Elizabeth and Patrice Davis and Noemi, Alex and David Bohossian and his sisters Ruth and Cleo, and extended family in the United States, as well as Brigitte’s sister Renate Schneider, her husband Ralf and her two sons Daniel and Manuel in Germany.
The Davis family wishes to thank all of our friends and neighbors for their kindness and support. It is greatly appreciated. All services are private.
