Robert E. “Bobby” Demady, of Holbrook, passed away August 30, 2024 at the age of 73.  Bobby was born in Boston, the youngest of 5, and grew up in Dorchester and Roxbury.  He later lived in Quincy and Braintree before he eventually settled in Holbrook where he lived for the past 25 years.

Bobby was known for having a twinkle in his eye, a great sense of humor, and an infectious laugh.  He had a great love of all genres of music.  Whether he was singing karaoke or dancing, wherever music was playing, he earned himself the nickname, “Blue-eyed soul brother”.  Some of his favorites included Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, James Brown, Elvis, the Temptations, Patsy Cline, Vince Gill, and Chris Stapleton, just to name a few.  He and his sister, Gina, were often the first on the dance floor at clubs or family parties.

Bobby was a proud supporter of all Boston sports teams, the Bruins and Red Sox being his favorite.  He immensely enjoyed being able to attend his children’s and grandchildren’s sports activities and dance recitals.  He cherished spending time with his family and friends and most especially his grandchildren.  He was a proud friend of Bill’s and in recent years, he lived with a renewed sense of purpose.

Bobby is survived by his loving daughters; Linette Dermady of Plymouth and Heather Ibbitson & her husband Neil of Middleboro; brother William Dermady and his partner Linda of Plymouth; niece Deborah Junkins of Rhode Island; daughter-in-law Deborah Matteson of Florida; and longtime partner Gale Gentile of Holbrook.   He will be missed by his grandchildren: Robbie, Sammie, Johnny, Kevin, Landon, Gracey, Lyla, and Gemma.  He also leaves behind several great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his sons, Robert E. Matteson and John J. Dermady, and his siblings, Gerald “Red” Dermady, Jr., Jackie Dermady, and Regina Howlett.

Memorial visiting hours will be held at the Hurley Currie Funeral Home, 127 So. Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Holbrook on Sunday, September 15th from 4-6pm.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
