Richard 'Rick' Reynar
Passed on June 3, 2023
Resident of Randolph, MA
Richard “Rick” Reynar, a Veteran of the Vietnam War and longtime resident of Randolph, MA, passed away on June 3, 2023 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers. Ricky, as he was known to many, was born January 1, 1946 to George and Ann (Davin) Reynar and attended Randolph High School where he met the love of his life Maureen Kiley, before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. Ricky was stationed in Texas as an Airman before volunteering to be shipped off to Vietnam. While in Vietnam he was a Crew Chief stationed in the Central Highlands, specifically Pleiku.
The U.S. Air Force recognized Ricky for his honorable service with a Purple Heart. He did not speak much of his time in Vietnam but was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran and was active with the VFW, Amvets, and Elks.
After sustaining combat injuries during a rocket attack, Ricky returned home and married Maureen Kiley, together they raised their family in Randolph. Ricky was a car guy, he eventually bought a white, 1980 Corvette. Rick and Maureen enjoyed their rides to anywhere and everywhere. They enjoyed their summer time on Cape Cod – Sandwich, MA, where they eventually resided. Rick loved his time on his boat whether on Cape Cod Bay with trips to Sandy Neck Beach or rides to Plymouth for lunch by boat. He enjoyed taking his daughter Christine and many of the nieces and nephews water skiing and tubing on the Mashpee-Wakeby Ponds.
Ricky was mechanically savvy, a real hands on type of guy who enjoyed working on cars, heating and cooling systems, appliances, etc. He took great pride in being able to work closely with his longtime friend and brother-in-law, Jimmy Conley, where they would help anyone with whatever car, appliance, or heating system needs. They loved the challenge of solving problems, while helping family and friends.
Ricky was preceded in death by his wife, Maureen and his daughter, Michelle (cystic fibrosis).
He is survived by his daughter, Christine (Reynar) Robles and her husband Frank Robles Jr, as well as four grandchildren, Patrick, Kiley, Sophia, and Finn all of Norton, along with many nieces and nephews. As well as his brother George and wife Ruthie Reynar of Florida.
We would like to especially thank Kathleen Conley, Patricia (FA) McNeil, affectionately known as “Rick’s Chicks” and many other family and friends that assisted with Ricky during his time of need.
The family has organized a memorial service to honor Ricky’s life which will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 S. Main St. Randolph, MA. Wake Thursday 4-7 pm and a Funeral service on Friday at 11am at the Hurley Funeral Home followed by a burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Randolph.
In lieu of flowers, we respectfully request donations to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
There aren't adequate words to describe the kindness and generosity that Ricky showed everyone he met; he was a like a second father to me and treated me like one of his own from the moment we met. I will forever be grateful. His kindness lives on in you Christine and your children. He will now be with Maureen and Michelle looking down on you making sure those he left in charge are doing their job looking after his baby girl. Love you all.
Very sad to hear about the loss of your Dad, Christine. What a beautifully written remembrance of your Dad. I remember going for a ride in that corvette when we were kids. I know my dad will miss his lifelong friend, as will the rest of us. May he rest in peace.
