Patricia J. (McMahon) Faherty
Passed on January 6, 2025
Resident of Avon, MA
Patricia Josephine Faherty, age 81, of Avon, MA, died peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family on Monday, January 6th, 2025.
Patricia was born in Sheedrim, County Clare, Ireland to the late John (Seán) and Mary-Kate McMahon. Raised and educated there, she immigrated to the United States in 1963 to Washington, D.C before settling in Queens, New York and beginning work for Emigrant Bank as a teller. She met her future husband Michael Joseph Faherty of Tuairín, County Galway, while dancing in the Catskills. Though he didn’t get a yes to his proposal the first night they met, she did say yes within the year, and they were married and settled in Avon. They built a beautiful life, raised their children and enjoyed over 50 years of marriage together.
Patricia was a Hockey Mom, a newspaper delivery driver, Boston sports superfan and a prolific baker and knitter. She was a fierce advocate for her daughter, a benefit dance organizer and a supporter for anything her family or friends needed. She filled every holiday and especially our summers at Green Harbor with enough joy and memories to last a lifetime. She was a devout Catholic and faithfully attended Saint Michael’s Parish. Family was the most important thing to her, and she was the beloved Mother of Michael Faherty, Jr. and his wife Sheila of Stamford, CT, Mary Patricia Faherty of Grantsville, UT and Seán Coleman Faherty and his wife Ruth, also of Grantsville. Loving Mamó to her “chickens” Michael III, Ryan, Ada, Cole, Jimmy and Henry. Dear sister of Maura O’Donoghue of Eau Claire, Michigan, Ann Kinahan of Stamford, CT, Patrick McMahon of Ennis, Ireland, and was predeceased by four sisters. Patricia is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, January 9th from 5-7 p.m. Interment to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Avon. Mike and family,
We were so sorry to hear about Pat.
She was the best neighbor, friend and person. No one gave a hug like Pat and when you got a hug from her she made you feel like all was right with the world.
I will cherish everything she made for me , and cherish all my years knowing her . Pat was truly a blessing from God . We loved her dearly and we will miss her .

I’m so sorry to hear of Patricia’s passing. I just heard after her burial. Patricia was my first friend here in Avon. I will always cherish my friendship with Patricia. You could not find a better friend than her. My family and I saw her at Mass on Christmas and we were so happy to see and chat with her.
She was so proud of her family. She leaves big shoes to fill.
I’m sure she is soaring with the angels.
Rest in Peace Patricia
So sorry for your loss Pat was an amazing wonderful lady
