Oscar R. “Ozzie” Foster

Oscar R. Foster, affectionately known as “Ozzie,” departed this life on August 31, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on April 14, 1952, in Boston, Massachusetts, Oscar was the beloved son of the deceased Oscar and Lillian Foster. He grew up surrounded by family, a cornerstone of his life, and he carried their love and values throughout his journey.

Ozzie was predeceased by his dear brother Robert Foster and cherished family members John and Mildred Greene. He is survived by his devoted loving wife of 56 years, Kathleen Greene Foster, who was not only his partner in life but his greatest friend and confidante. Together, they raised their son, Michael Foster, a member of the LAPD, who was not only Ozzie’s son but his best friend.

Ozzie’s heart was large, and his family was his pride and joy. His sister, Jacklyn Foster Hanson, whom he adored, remained a steadfast presence in his life. His brothers, Daniel Tibbo (Becky) of Anchorage, Alaska, Neil of Weymouth, and Douglas (Susan) of Carver, Dennis Ciarfella of Brockton, a helper and friend.

Throughout his life, Ozzie shared touching bonds with many, including Linda Doe Bentley, the daughter of a good friend, whom he was proud to give away in marriage. His numerous nieces and nephews were each special to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Ozzie’s professional life was marked by dedication and passion. He retired from the Town of Holbrook DPW, but his true calling was the Elegant Touch Carriage, a business he owned for over 30 years. Ozzie brought magic to the streets of Boston, sharing the joy of horse-drawn carriage rides in the city’s Faneuil and Back Bay areas. His skill with horses, especially the majestic draft horses like Bob, Helen, and Nacho, was unparalleled. To Ozzie, a day spent among horses was a day well lived.

Ozzie’s gratitude extended to those who supported him, including Dr. Jack Curtain from Abington Vet, whose work with Ozzie’s horses was deeply appreciated. To his friends from OFD, Ozzie leaves behind the reins, but his journey will forever be remembered.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, honoring Ozzie’s love for animals and community. Ozzie’s life was a testament to the power of kindness, love, and unwavering commitment to family and friends. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A graveside service will be held at Union St Cemetery in Holbrook on October 2,2026 at 10am. All invited to attend.
