Norma (Roman) Mercuri, of Avon, MA, passed away surrounded by family on June 29, 2021. Born in Roxbury in 1933, Norma was a 53-year resident of Avon and an active member of her community. She served on Avon’s Cultural Council and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed her time as a poll worker at Avon’s Buckley Center. Norma was also secretary for various town boards, and she served dutifully as the parish secretary for Avon’s Saint Michael’s Catholic Church for twenty-five years.
Norma was a loyal and affectionate wife to Silvio, “Sonny” Mercuri, and a loving sibling to her sister Carol (Roman) Poles and George Roman. She was a widely loved aunt to an extended family that is too large to list, a devoted mother to her children Denise (Mercuri) Tedesco, Rick Mercuri, and Kevin Mercuri. Her four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren provided her with an unlimited source of joy and pride.
Funeral from the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St., Randolph on Saturday, July 3rd at 8:15am followed by a funeral mass at St. Michael Church in Avon at 9am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held Friday, July 2nd from 4-7pm. Interment St. Michael’s Cemetery, Avon.
