Neil Henry Hammond of Holbrook died peacefully at home on July 9, 2021 surrounded by family. Neil was born in Roxbury, MA in 1944 to the late Arthur and Bertha (Jewers) Hammond. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 59 years, Kathleen Burns Hammond. He was the devoted father of three children, Neil J. Hammond, Michael P. Hammond and Debra A. Hammond of Holbrook.
He was the loving and proud grandfather of Jessica Stetson of East Bridgewater, Joseph and Jacob Hammond of Holbrook and great grandfather of Lacey, Charlie, Emily and Savannah.
He was predeceased by his brother Cliff Hammond and his sister Geraldine Rockel.
Neil was a real estate broker, business owner and builder. He built over 100 houses in Holbrook and Wareham. He also owned Hammond Shoe Store (Currently Cafe Asia) and Dairy Ranch in Holbrook (Currently Pizzings). He also served two terms as Water Commissioner for the Town of Holbrook.
Neil was a self taught songwriter and guitar player. He was always happy to catch family members singing or humming his original compositions. He enjoyed spending the Summer in Wareham with his family swimming, boating and riding bicycles. Neil had a zest for life that was obvious to anyone who met him.
