Michael G. Nihill, of Holbrook, passed away February 26, 2018 at the age of 68. Born and raised in Boston, Michael was a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps, served in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He went on to work for the MBTA, retiring in 2003. Michael was a past Commander for the St. Mark’s VFW post in Dorchester from 1987-88 and volunteered with the Cub Scouts in Holbrook. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and woodworking. Most of all, Mike loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Beloved husband for 47 years of Mary E. (Geagan) Nihill. Loving father of Joseph Nihill and his wife Heidi of Norton, Christine Pierce and her husband Kevin of Andover, and Kathleen Richton and her husband Mike of Hingham. Treasured Grandpa of Donovan, Jack, Violet, Gabriella, Sammy, and Evangeline. Devoted son of the late Eugene and Veronica (Sullivan) Nihill. Dear brother of Patricia Nihill of FL, Judith Dragoslis of FL, Jill Nihill of So. Boston, and the late Jeanne Schnur, Robert Nihill, Robin Griffin, and Nancy Doyle. Also survived by many sisters and brothers – in-law, nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Hurley Funeral Home, 127 So. Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Holbrook, Friday, March 2nd at 9:45am followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph’s Church, Holbrook at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday, March 1st from 4-8pm. Interment Union Cemetery, Holbrook. Late US Marine veteran.
