Mary S. O’Gorman

Passed on September 16, 2022
Resident of Randolph, MA

Mary Stephens O’Gorman, 72, formerly of Randolph, passed away, surrounded by her three loving siblings, after a period of declining health. Beloved sister, aunt, godmother, animal lover and volunteer, Mary finally moved toward the peace and light that she so much believed in and deserved on September 16, 2022.

Even through difficult periods in her life, Mary remained steadfast in her faith and strong in her devotion. Mary was a true survivor and overcame challenges that many have not had to face. Throughout more difficult times in her life, Mary still maintained a youthful enthusiasm and a sparkle in her eye, especially when surrounded by those she loved. Mary always expressed gratitude for acts of kindness and service, simple joys, and small blessings. Her caregivers always fell in love with Mary and appreciated her genuine smiles and “thank yous.”

Mary was known as a talented seamstress and creative soul; she followed her heart and lived her life boldly, authentically, and compassionately. She was creating artwork that she offered to her loved ones up until her final illness took hold. Mary was known for offering gifts, monetary or personal, to those she loved and appreciated, even if she could have used those items for herself. Mary’s generosity of heart extended to all living creatures, big and small, and she would have sacrificed herself to save an animal in need. We hope that she is surrounded by all her beloved pets and the animals she saved as she begins her new journey.

Predeceased by her parents, John O’Gorman and Evelyn O’Gorman and aunt, Catherine “Kay” Lawless, Mary is survived by her sisters, Catherine “Cathy” O’Gorman, of Westport, MA and Evelyn “Patty” Canavan and brother-in-law, George Canavan, of Plymouth, MA and her brother, John “Jack” O’Gorman and sister-in-law, Maureen O’Gorman, of Townsend, MA. Mary also leaves behind her cousin, James “Jimmy” Lawless, her nieces, Andrea Canavan, Jacquelyn Ferguson, Caitlyn Potter and Kerry O’Gorman, and her nephews, Stephen Camara and John, Ryan and Daniel O’Gorman. Mary is also survived by grand-nieces, Sienna, Adelaide and Maddie, and grand-nephews, Phoenix, Leland, and James.

We would like to thank the wonderful hospice staff at Tobey Hospital for their diligence in making Mary as comfortable as possible in her final days. Your kindness and attention did not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated.
