Born and raised in St. Matthews parish, Dorchester, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Hannah Cullinan and the devoted sister of the late Peg Hilson. She was a graduate of St. Peter and Paul’s High School in South Boston.
Mary was a strong woman of deep faith who embodied the word love. She was a voracious reader, often reading two or three books a week. She enjoyed bowling, knitting, dancing, gardening, and her favorite large Hershey’s Chocolate bars. She loved her long walks through the neighborhood where she was often greeted by her many friends and neighbors. After marrying her late husband Joe she continued to live in St. Matthews parish to raise her family. She was active in the CYO, Sodality, Bazaars, and Variety shows as well as being a CCD teacher for many years. Upon moving to Holbrook she became a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph’s church where she was involved in the R.C.I.A. program.
