Leanora “Lee” Theresa Rugo Gaul, of Avon, MA passed away March 23, 2023 at the age of 80. Daughter of the late Albert & Maureen Rugo. Beloved wife for 57 years of the late Richard Gaul. Loving mother of Donna Gaul, of Cary, NC Stephen Gaul, married to Magda Gaul of Abington, MA. Sister of Suzanne Merna of Hingham, MA Bart Rugo of San Francisco, CA, Maureen Harling and Victoria Rugo of Wilmington, NC, and John Rugo (Michele) of Grass Valley, CA. She leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: Ian Kerr and Ashely Kerr both of Raleigh, NC, and Kora Gaul of Abington, MA. Also survived by 13 nieces, 7 nephews, and too many cousins to count.

Lee graduated Milton High School, class of 1960 and was a graduate of School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, 1964. She worked as an art educator in multiple school districts before teaching at the Avon Nursery School and retired as a Director of the Braintree After School Enrichment Program. Becoming the Director was the crown jewel of her career.

She was well traveled. In addition to visiting friends and family within the continental USA, she visited Colombia, Australia, and Italy. She loved meeting new people and experiencing new cultures.

She painted and created artwork most days of her life. She was an active member of the art community as she served on local art councils, participated in multiple community art events, and was a life-long learner of anything art.

Lee loved being with her family, the beach, and teaching children.

She was an active member of St. Michael's Parish in Avon, including participating in the annual Bazaar and teaching CCD classes.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was an amazing person who loved everyone and wanted people to be happy.

Funeral from the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St. (Rt. 28), Randolph on Saturday, April 15th at 9:15am followed by a funeral mass at St. Michael Church in Avon at 10am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 14th from 4-7pm.
