Laura (Coletta) Merola, of West Bridgewater, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Life Care Center in West Bridgewater at the age of 92. Laura was born in Quincy on February 8, 1929 to the late Peter and Jennie Coletta. She married Paul Merola of Hyde Park on September 2, 1950 and shortly after, they opened Laura’s Beauty Shop in Quicny. Paul and Laura shared a love of dancing and they went on to teach ballroom dancing, square dancing, round dancing, and line dancing all around the United States. This led Laura and Paul to purchase the Canoe Club Ballroom of West Bridgewater in 1964. There they taught dancing, and hosted weddings and other private events until their retirement. In addition to dancing, Laura also enjoyed bowling, traveling, and cooking homemade Italian food.
Beloved wife of the late Paul Merola, Laura is survived by her daughters, Stacy Merola and Sheri Pascarella, her son in law Dana Pascarella, her grandson Drew Clancy and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers Peter and Antonio Coletta.
A private viewing will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St. (Rt. 28), Randolph on Wednesday, February 24th followed by a burial at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree. All are welcome to the burial. Those wishing to follow in procession to the burial should arrive at the funeral home by 10:30am. Covid-19 precautions will be in place. In lieu of flowers, donations in Laura’s memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital via stjude.org.
