John E. Billings Jr
Passed on November 12, 2023
Resident of Avon, MA
John E. Billings, Jr., of Avon, passed away November 12, 2023, at the age of 69. Born to the late John Billings, Sr., and Ann (Rumski) Billings in Franklin, John was raised in Dorchester. He worked for 25 years at Gillette in South Boston as a stock clerk and took immense pride in his job. This is where he and his wife of 37 years, Maria A. (Pires) Billings, first met.
John worked tirelessly to maintain his home and yard. He cherished many family traditions around the holidays, and he doted on his family. He loved to lavish them with gifts, especially at Christmas time. He was a huge professional wrestling fan and his capacity to love extended to his much-adored cats, Purdy & Buddy.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his daughter, Loyde M. Pires of Jersey City, NJ. His beloved siblings include Joyce Sarney of Hanover, Kevin Billings of Bradford, and the late Joanne Thornhill, Nancy Cook, Beverly Wood, and Donna Sanchez. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
John loved to crack jokes and his infectious laughter will be missed most of all. He and his wife were rarely separated and although she and those who love him mourn his loss, all can take solace in knowing that someday they will be reunited with him.
