Joan F. (Fleming) Farin

Joan F. (Fleming) Farin, affectionately known as Joanie, Mom, Nana, Grammie and Gigi, passed away peacefully at her home in Plainville, MA, on August 24, 2026, at the age of 90, surrounded by the loved ones who meant so much to her.

Joan was born on December 5, 1935, in Boston, Massachusetts, to John and Lillian Fleming. She grew up in Hyde Park alongside her two sisters, Constance and Dorothy, creating the foundation for a lifetime filled with family, love, and memories.

On June 30, 1956, Joan married the love of her life, Vincent Farin, beginning a beautiful marriage that lasted 47 years. Together, they raised three amazing children and built a family that remained the center of Joan’s world throughout her life. She carried the memories of their beloved sons, Vincent and Mark, with her through every stage of life, always keeping them close to her heart.

Joan was bold, sassy, and never afraid to speak her mind. She had a memorable sense of humor and a talent for the kind of off-the-cuffremarks that could catch you completely offguard and were almost guaranteed to put a smile on your face. She loved fiercely, and anyone fortunate enough to experience Joan’s love knew just how deeply she cared.

She was, without question, the world’s biggest Red Sox fan, even when their record wasn’t exactly something to brag about. She loved spending time by the pool in Avon, playing cards while watching her grandchildren. She was an avid cruiser, always enjoying driving up and down the East Coast for vacations in Florida with her companion, Robert “Bob” Milton, and could often be found watching classic movies on TCM.

She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Beale of Attleboro, MA, and her husband, Edward; Victoria Duggan of Taunton, MA, and her husband, Gerard; and her son, Anthony Farin of Whitman, MA, and his wife, Nancy. Of particular note, Joan’s Niece and Goddaughter, Deborah Yurof of Plainville, was always there, making sure she always had what she needed. She is also survived by 6 granddaughters, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, John and Lillian Fleming; her husband, Vincent Farin; her sons, Vincent Farin and Mark Farin; her companion, Bob Milton and her 2 great grandchildren, Abby and Breidan.

Joan’s family will forever remember her for her fierce love, quick wit, bold spirit, and the laughter she brought into their lives. She was a one-of-a-kind Mom, Nana, Grammie, and Gigi whose presence could never be replaced. Her memory will live on in every family gathering, every card game, every Red Sox game, every classic movie, and in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to be loved by her.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 1st, from 4 PM to 7 PM at Hurley Funeral Home, located at 134 South Main St. (Rt. 28), Randolph, MA 02368. Funeral from the funeral home on Wednesday, September 2nd at 10:15AM followed by a funeral mass at St. Michaels Church, located at 87 N Main St, Avon, MA 02322 at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.  Following the service, Joan will be laid to rest at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Avon, MA.
