Jeanne Smith

It is with great sadness that the family of Jeanne Smith announce her passing on September 20th, 2026, at the age of 76. She was the daughter of the late Anne (Clark) and George Smith. She was a graduate of Holbrook High School’s class of 1968 and a resident of Bridgewater for the last 25 years.

Jeanne was a focused and career driven woman. In the 1980’s, Jeanne was the proud owner and manager of Brookville News in Holbrook, alongside her late ex-husband James J. Ross. After selling their business, Jeanne moved on to work for Boston Financial Data Services before finishing her career at the Brockton Housing Authority.

Jeanne was a funny woman who inherited her father’s quick wit and great sense of humor. She was an avid reader, enjoying both novels and word puzzles. Jeanne was also a fantastic cook, always sharing recipes and making large meals for her loved ones to enjoy. Jeanne treasured her childhood friends and continuously built new friendships throughout her life, considering every one of them family. Above all, Jeanne loved spending time at home surrounded by her inner circle and beloved pets. One of the greatest joys of Jeanne’s life was living next door to her son and his family.

Jeanne is survived by her son, James M. Ross of Bridgewater, his wife Sharon and their 2 children, A.J. and Jillian. She is also survived by her sister Ginger (Smith) Hunter, and her husband Bob, and her brother Greg Smith. Additionally, Jeanne is survived by her sister-in-law Susan, the wife of her late brother Paul Smith, their son Mathew and his family, Grace and Oscar.

A memorial funeral mass will be held in Jeanne’s honor on October 8th, 2026 at 10am at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Holbrook.  Relatives and friends are respectfully to attend.
