James William McPadden, 73 years old, of Brockton, MA, passed away unexpectedly at home on August 31, 2026. Born on August 31, 1953 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the child of Helen Agnes Briggs and James Joseph McPadden. James grew up in Brockton, MA and graduated from Brockton High School.
After school he entered the Army National Guard for a number of years followed by a career with Millipore Corp as a group operations manager. James traveled extensively and worked as a mechanist/plumber.
James was so proud of his family and loved working on his houses. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles and tinkering around the yard. James was best known as a dog Dad to Monty and Sam.
He is survived by the love of his life, Norma Crane, her family, and his sister Marianne McPadden and her partner Charlie Schifone.
Visiting hours will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St. (Rt. 28), Randolph, on Tuesday, September 8th from 11am-12pm followed by a service at 12pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.

Norma, I am so sorry for your loss. Jimmy was such a nice guy and great friend to Steve. He will be missed horribly by all who knew him. I hope you find comfort in the memories of the lives you shared.
Mr. McPadden,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service for our Country when you served with the MAARNG during the Cold War. Millions of Americans slept safe at night because you and your fellow Servicemen and women stood ready to defend our Country. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
I am going to miss our phone conversations. We talked all about his travels and family. He loved talking about WWII heroes and we often discussed current events giving our opinions. He admitted recently that Sam did in fact run the house and had Jimmy on his schedule for feeding, not Jimmy’s. Jimmy had a heart of gold and a tremendous care for others. I’m sure he has touched and helped many. Having a fine gift of gab, I bet he’s at the Pearly gates telling a story right now. He will be sorely missed and I’m happy he was part of our family.
