Helena Cecilia (Flynn) Galvin, of Avon, passed away June 1, 2017. Born and educated in County Waterford Ireland, Helena came to the US on May 26, 1953. She lived in Randolph for 30 years before moving to Avon in 2001. She was a member of the Irish Social Club in W. Roxbury, the Irish Cultural Center in Canton, and a proud member of the Pioneer Society since 1945. Helena enjoyed cooking and dancing. She loved being surrounded by her family and friends, and taking trips back to Ireland.

Loving wife for 49 years of the late Daniel Galvin. Devoted mother of Timothy Galvin and his wife Maura of Avon, Elizabeth Tascione and her husband Richard of Ashland, John Galvin and Marilyn Sweeney of Avon, Daniel Galvin and his wife Laurie of W. Bridgewater, Eileen Powers and her husband Joe of Randolph, and Joanne Craffey and her husband Kevin of Duxbury. Beloved sister of Josephine Drislane and John Flynn, both of Ireland, William Flynn of England, and the late Gregory Flynn, Margaret O’Keeffe, and Breeda Hartnett, all of Ireland. Also survived by her 15grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St. (Rt. 28) Randolph on Monday, June 5th at 9:15am followed by a funeral mass at St. Michael’sChurch in Avon at 10am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday, June 4th from 3-7pm. Interment private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Helena’s name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at www.michaeljfox.org.
