Gloria Jean Barrett passed away at her home on May 19, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Gloria was born on August 29, 1949, in Colón, Panamá to Louis Robinson and Norma DeRobinson. She was the youngest of two.

Gloria immigrated from Panamá to the United States in October 1980 with her five children, initially settling in Cambridge, Massachusetts with her mother. In June 1995, she married Earl Peoples. They resided in Somerville, Massachusetts until his untimely death in 2007. She worked as a line leader and quality control worker for Baxter Travenol Genetech Diagnostic in Cambridge (1980-1986) and as a personal care attendant (1989-1992). Gloria began her 20+ years career with Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services as a bilingual home health aide and then as a geriatric case manager (1986-2008). She served as a tireless and compassionate advocate to provide homecare services for her clients.

Her hobbies included her passion for cooking, baking, crocheting, making ceramic dolls and nicknacks, and her love for dancing and spending time with family and friends.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory is her brother Louis Robinson. Her children, Roberto Phillips, Edgardo Barrett and his wife Saskia, Zunilka Barrett, Xenia McFarling and her husband JR, and Luis McRae. Her grandchildren, Daniel, Kenia, Justin, Kayla, Kai, and Cassandra. Her nieces Shantal and Yetziel and nephew Louis. Her best friend Joan and a host of family and friends. Gloria will be sorely missed.

Arrangements by The Hurley Funeral Homes, 134 South Main Street, Randolph, MA. Viewing on Tuesday, June 2nd at 10:00 a.m., celebration service at 11:00 a.m. Following, the family will travel to the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
