CORMEY, George, age 84, of Randolph, MA passed away on March 11, 2021 at his home. He was born October 31, 1936 in Brockton, MA to George and Marie (Helm) Cormey. He attended St. Anselm’s College 1954-58, and was an Army Reservist with Battery “B”, 5th Artillery 1958-59. He married Alma Robison on June 14, 1969. In 1980, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Stonehill College. He worked as a civil engineer for the Town of Randolph for thirty-two years (the longest-running town employee in the Engineering Department) until his early retirement in 1999.

A two-time Boston Marathon runner, George kept busy (and competitive!) with numerous Senior Olympics track and field events ie. javelin, shotput and hammer throw. He was a multiple winner in the Eastern Regional Masters, USATF Masters and as a member of Chelmsford’s Twilight Throwers.

A life-long Randolph resident, George enjoyed yardwork, tennis, American political-science and complaining about the woman holding up the line at Shaws. His favorite comedic performers were impressionist Rich Little and B-movie horror host, The Son of Svengoolie. He was also an avid fan of Jeopardy, Lt. Columbo and Turner Movie Classics’ Western and Film Noir series.

He is survived by his sons, Theodore and Timothy, his sister, Barbara White (ninety-nine, soon to be a hundred in July!), his daughter-in-law Kathy (Hogan) Cormey, and granddaughters Emma and Christine, plus multiple nieces and nephews.

A private burial service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Cards and flowers can be mailed to Hurley Funeral Home, 134 S. Main Street, Randolph MA 02368. Or donations in George’s memory can be sent to Mount Saviour Monastery, 231 Monastery Road, Pine City, NY 14871.
