Esther M. (Trifiro) Comeau, 82, of Durham, NH passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 16, 2024 in Dover, NH. Born in Boston to the late Louis and Mary (Squatrito) Trifiro, she is survived by her children, Maria Puglisi and her husband Robert of Gloucester, Patricia MacFarlane of Hanover, Jack Trifiro and his wife Sara of Madbury, NH, Lisa Persichini of Plymouth, Robert Trifiro of Seattle, WA; her grandchildren, Marissa Persichini, Devon MacFarlane, Emily MacFarlane, Lucy Trifiro, AJ Trifiro, Daniel Puglisi, and Jacqueline Puglisi; her brother, Salvatore Trifiro of Whitman; and many nieces and nephews.
Esther grew up in South Boston and attended Nazareth High School, graduating as class valedictorian in 1959. She went on to have a long successful career as a legal secretary, most recently and significantly for Collins Loughran & Peloquin, PC. Esther retired in 2006 and began volunteering at the Plymouth Council on Aging in 2007, answering the phone, managing the Council’s library, and planning and leading trips for the seniors to many destinations including Branson, Missouri and Washington, DC. During her time volunteering at the Plymouth Council on Aging, Esther was presented multiple Official Citations from the Massachusetts State Senate and House of Representatives. She was honored for her tireless commitment and selfless dedication, exemplifying outstanding community service. Her awards included being named Senior of the Year in 2010.
Esther was a friend to many, known for having the gift of gab and a great sense of humor, and she enjoyed swapping stories, poems, and loving quips with her brother, Sal. She was a lifelong Elvis enthusiast and enjoyed coloring, scrapbooking, and doing puzzles. She was fondly known as Nanni to her beloved grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Visiting hours will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St. (Rt. 28) Randolph, on Monday, January 22nd from 11am-1pm followed by a service at 1pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A committal will be held following the service at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, donations in Esther's memory can be made to the Italian Home for Children via www.italianhome.org/give.

Esther and I were friends when our children went to Ellis Brett School.We were very active in PTA and she was president for awhile.Esther put her heart into every project she was involved in. We all celebrated the 90th birthday of the school at our annual fair
.Another milestone was the traffic light at the Pleasant st intersection.Everyone in school was involved–a huge effort getting a petition with 902 signatures. The Comeaus raised five smart children. Now I am terminally ill and I hope she and I will meet in Heaven. May God bless us all. Cynthia
To Esther’s kids and family – My deepest condolences on your loss. I worked with Esther back in the late 80s/early 90s at MLM. I have a picture of us dancing to some song at my wedding – what energy she had! And she was the last person I hugged as I left MLM for a new job. I have great memories of our time together at MLM. May her memory be a blessing by all who knew her.
So very sorry for your loss. Your mother loved you very much. She enjoyed telling my family all about her children and grandchildren. She adored you and was very proud of all of you. I'm sure it's hard to say goodbye.
She also enriched the life of my mother who especially loved their vacations together with Sal. I enjoyed hearing your mom and Sal talk about these trips, with arched eye brows, recounting my mother's escapades! She always had a ready laugh and big smile. She will be missed. So sorry Sal for the loss of your beloved sister.
