Elizabeth A. Lofgren LeCount

Elizabeth Ann LeCount, born in Boston on January 28, 1932, passed away October 28, 2016. She was the eldest daughter of the late Harold Lofgren and Elizabeth (Toner) Lofgren. Betty Ann was raised in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston. She married Robert LeCount in June of 1954. Born during the Great Depression, she left school at age sixteen to help raise her siblings. She was the oldest of twelve children. Betty loved caring for children, be they her nieces and nephews, children living at Nazareth, or her grandson, Nicholas. After Bob passed in 1996 she became very active in the community. She swam with children at the Massachusetts Hospital School, volunteered at the Holbrook Public Library, and was a member of the Holbrook Historical Society. She was a Dolphinette in the U.S. Submarine Veterans of WWII, Northeast Chapter. She developed deep friendships through her community activities. At the age of 81, she earned her high school diploma from Holbrook High School. Betty enjoyed baking and sharing “goodies” with friends and neighbors. She has lived in Holbrook for 60 years.

Beloved wife of the late Robert A. LeCount. Loving mother of Robert LeCount Jr. and his wife Mary. Proud grandmother of Nicholas LeCount. Dear sister of Mary Joan Lofgren, CSJ of Milton, Geraldine Noonan of Rockland, Kathleen Cameron of Quincy, Nancy McDonald of Sandwich, and Mary Mariano of Bridgewater, Alfred Lofgren of Wareham, John Lofgren of Lynn, Thomas Lofgren of E. Bridgewater, Gerard Lofgren of Holbrook, and the late Robert Lofgren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home, 127 So. Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Holbrook on Wednesday, November 2nd at 11:30am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment at the MA. National Cemetery, in Bourne at 2pm. Visiting hours are Tuesday, November 1st from 4-7pm. Due to floral restrictions at the cemetery, donations can be made in Betty’s memory to a charity of one’s choice in honor of her love for children and animals.
