Eddy C. Young, III, of Randolph and Oak Bluffs, suddenly at home on June 24th. Eldest son of parents Eddy C. Young, II and Teresa M. Young, of Randolph who predeceased him. He is the beloved brother of Sally (Young) Marr and her husband, Matthew B. Marr of Cohasset, Joseph M. Young and his wife, Susan M. Young of Westwood, and Mark P. Young of Edgartown. He was a devoted nephew to his surviving aunt, Sally Yourkewicz of Pocasset, formerly of Randolph. Eddy is survived by his loving companion Shavithri Singh of Randolph and he will be dearly missed by Shavithri’s children and grandchildren.
Eddy was also the proud uncle to many nieces and nephews; Mike Roan and his wife Jennifer of West Bridgewater; Meghan (Marr) Severance and husband Bryan of Rumson, NJ; David Marr of San Franciso; Joseph Young, Jr. of Boston; Erin Young and Daniel Young of Westwood.
Eddy grew up in Randolph where he graduated from Randolph High School in 1970 and was a member of the Varsity Golf team. He attended college at Salem State in Salem, MA. Throughout his life, Eddy was known for his tireless work ethic and held a variety different jobs working his way through high school and college. These included working as a caddy at the Martha’s Vineyard Country Club, a clothing salesman for the Anderson-Little Company, operated a vending machine business on the South Shore, sold Christmas trees during the holiday season and later worked for many years in construction, eventually running the family’s business of residential carpentry and remodeling for the E.C. Young Company which he took over and ran successfully upon his father’s retirement.
Eddy will always be remembered for his kindness to others, his faithful practice of the ‘Golden Rule’ when dealing with everyone and his unwavering devotion to both family and friends during difficult times of crisis or poor health.
Visiting hours will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St. (Rt. 28), Randolph on Thursday, June 28th from 4-7pm followed by a service at 7pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Eddy’s name may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). https://www2.jdrf.org.
