Dorothy G. (Duprey) Potcner, of Holbrook, died peacefully at home after her courageous battle with cancer. Dorothy grew up in Caswell, Maine before moving to Dorchester where she met her husband, Steve Potcner. They moved to Holbrook in 1966 where she raised her 3 sons. Dorothy loved gardening, spending hours in her yard, and often sharing gardening advice with many. She greatly enjoyed her stretching and walking groups with her friends. Her greatest passion was time spent with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, especially attending the grandkids school activities and sporting events.
When she first moved to Holbrook she spent many years working in the cafeterias of the Holbrook Public school system. When her sons were grown she took a job at JL Hammett where she worked as a sales rep until she retired. Not letting retirement slow her down, She was actively involved in the Friends of Council of Aging and was a Eucharistic minister at St Joseph’s parish.
Beloved wife of almost 60 years of Steven Potcner. Loving mother of Greg Potcner and his wife Annmarie of Wilmington MA, David Potcner and his wife Alice of Holbrook MA, and Kevin Potcner and his wife Vivienne of San Francisco CA. Dear sister of Roland Duprey and his wife Jackie of ME, Norman Duprey and his wife Arlene of ME, Joan Malone of NH, Linda Lucarotti and her late husband Robbie of Medford, and the late Gill and Terry Duprey, Dick Duprey, Vincent Duprey, Jean and Joseph Potzner, and Thelma Duprey. Cherished grandmother of Stephen and his wife Ali, Leah, Nicole, Joshua, and Ryan. Great-grandmother of Stephen Jr. and Addison. Daughter of the late Leda and Aurele Duprey. Sister In law of Roseann Mowbray and the late Robert Mowbray of Plymouth, Barbara and John Costa of Kingston, and the late John and Valerie Bracken of Braintree. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on , Friday, February 11th from 4-8pm at the Hurley Funeral Home, 127 So. Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Holbrook.
Funeral from the Hurley Currie Funeral Home on Saturday, February 12th at 9:15am followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph Church in Holbrook at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Avon.
