Buckley, Claire (Gleason). Of Braintree and Bass River died peacefully on June 2 after a long and wonderful life. She was 94 years old. Born and raised in Brockton to David and Mildred Gleason, Claire worked for many years at the New England Telephone Company, where she met her beloved husband of 52 years, the late Robert A. Buckley. After raising her children, she resumed her career before retiring. Claire enjoyed spending winters in Sarasota FL and loved reading, traveling, entertaining, laughing loud and often, and cheering on the Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots. Most of all, she adored her family. She was the loving mother of Mary-Jane Ruggels of Burbank, CA and Trisha Cook (Pat) of Centreville, VA. Dear Nana to Nathaniel, Caroline and Benjamin Cook and to Desmond and Annabel Ruggels. Devoted sister of her lifelong best friend, Lorraine (Gleason) Murphy. She is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and great-grandnieces and nephews.
Funeral from Hurley Currie Funeral Home, 127 So. Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Holbrook on Friday, June 10th at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Clare’s Church in Braintree at 11 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, June 9th from 5-7pm. Interment at a later date at Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New England Home for Little Wanderers or Thayer Public Library in Braintree.
