Barbara E. Hougham Lanigan

Barbara Hougham Lanigan, 85, of Holbrook, died peacefully at home on April 11, 2017.
She was the loving wife of 54 years of Albert W. Lanigan, who passed away in 2007. She was also the devoted mother of Janet F. Lanigan of Braintree, James W. Lanigan and his late wife Elizabeth “Betsy” Lanigan of Houston, TX, and “Nana” to Danielle McDonnell and her husband, Stephen of Madison, AL, Adam and Jake Lanigan of Knoxville, TN. In addition, she is survived by two beautiful great-grandchildren, Connor and Allison “Allie” McDonnell of Madison, AL, many nieces and nephews and their families, the mother of her grandchildren Shelly Laska and her husband Scott of Knoxville, TN, and her dear friend and neighbor for 20 years, Dawn Anagnos and her family.

Barbara was fortunate to be at home with her family during their early years. She received a full scholarship to the secretarial school at Fisher College in Boston. She held a variety of positions, from stuffing promotional materials for Howard Johnson’s, to working in real estate and as a receptionist at Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital. She was also a past Treasurer of the Friends of the Holbrook Public Library.
Funeral services were private, and she was laid to rest next to her husband at The Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, in Bourne.
