Barbara Ann Basinger, a resident of 16-A Fellowship Circle, Avon, Ma. died at her home on July 31, 2023. She was born in Lewiston, Maine the daughter of Lloyd and Frances (Paradis) Basinger. One of six siblings, Barbara was raised successively in Lewiston, ME, Fall River, MA; and Hudson, MA. She graduated from Hudson Catholic High School and pursued studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst; she had a career in retail management for many years.
Barbara endured various medical difficulties and challenges throughout her life which she faced courageously. None prevented her from avidly following the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. She was an accomplished cross word solver and was the go-to person when information was needed about dates and family history. Her residence in Avon was a senior living complex where she was known for her friendliness & readiness to help neighbors.
Barbara is predeceased by brothers Donald, William and James. She is survived by her sister Elaine Basinger of Brooklyn, NY; her brother David Basinger and his wife Leryna of Puyallup, WA; her uncle James Paradis and his partner Prataap Patrose of Boston; and her nieces Cindy McLin Volkey and Ann Marie Peterson of York, Maine.
Interment will be at a later date in the family plot at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lewiston, Maine.
The Good Shepherd Sisters, Province of New York-Toronto, will miss Barbara dearly. She was part of our extended family, was always encouraging and supportive as well as grateful for prayers and shared events.
We know she is peaceful, in union with her Shepherd God, and with all her family members who have gone ahead of her on this final journey.
