Stephen was a long-time resident of Holbrook and a proud graduate of St. Joseph elementary school, Boston College High School, College of the Holy Cross and New England Conservatory of Music.   His love of music and his mastery of piano and organ led him to become the director of music ministry at St. Joseph Church in Holbrook.    In 2008, Stephen joined the community at Austin Prep in Reading MA.  He had a tremendous impact on the lives of many students who had him as a Math teacher or mentor in the Musical and Performing Arts.

Steve was lovely, kind and talented. When we buried my brother, I wanted to sing a rather complicated song. I brought Steve the music in the morning and he played beautifully while I sang! Bless him.

I had the honor of singing with Steve in the college choir as well as chamber singers at Holy Cross. We were also in the show The Music Man together. I will always remember his wonderful voice and kind spirit!

I didn’t know Steve well, but I saw in the Holy Cross magazine that he had passed away. I will never forget his beautiful tenor in my freshman year (1998) Parents’ Weekend College Choir concert. He sang the tenor solo in Haydn’s “The Heavens Are Telling.” How impactful that voice was on me that I remember him more than 25 years later. I picture him now singing at the gates of heaven. I am so sorry for your loss.
