Robert E. “Bob” Hooke

September 25, 1932 – March 21, 2026
Resident of Holbrook, MA

Robert Eugene “Bob” Hooke passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026 with his daughter Cynthia by his side.

Bob was a man of few words and enjoyed the simple things in life. In his later years he enjoyed walking his dog, playing cribbage, and going to his favorite restaurant for breakfast.
He grew up in Holbrook and attended Holbrook High School graduating in 1950. Bob was an identical twin, brother Richard “Dickie” Hooke predeceased him in 2021. They were inseparable for most of their lives. At an early age, they became altar boys at St. Joseph’s Church in Holbrook. Later, they enlisted in the Army and went off to the Korean War, managing to remain together after a written request from their Mother to the then-Senator John F. Kennedy. They worked together at the Shipyard in Quincy and later at General Motors, where they had long careers.

After retirement from General Motors, Bob worked at Home Depot and Union Cemetery in Holbrook, he loved to work and especially enjoyed landscaping.

Bob also enjoyed road trips with his daughter Cynthia. A trip to Chicago to visit his granddaughter Nicole was a particularly cherished memory. He was very proud of Nicole and always looked forward to her photographs, postcards, and holiday visits.

During a more recent train trip to New York City for his 90th birthday, he was able to see all the changes in the city since his last visit more than fifty years earlier. He celebrated that birthday with dinner in Little Italy.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Cynthia White; his granddaughter, Nicole White; and several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank the Veterans Palliative Care and Hospice in Brockton for the great care and comfort they provided Bob during the last week of his life. We would also like to thank the staff at Action Medicine in Braintree for the wonderful care and concern given to Bob in his later years.

A Private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Veterans Affairs.
