Michael B. Reilly “Captain Mike”
July 6, 1957 – September 17, 2025
Resident of Avon, MA
Michael B. Reilly, lovingly known as “Captain Mike,” passed away peacefully September 17, 2025, at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer, with his devoted wife Teresa “Terri” Reilly by his side. He was 68 years old.
Born on July 6, 1957, in Providence, Rhode Island, Mike was the son of the late James William and Lucille (Preston) Reilly. Mike grew up in Smithfield, R.I. and graduated from Smithfield High School in 1975.
Mike built a successful and fulfilling career as a project manager at Parkinson Technologies, where his dedication, leadership, and drive left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike. Outside of work, his greatest joys came from the sea—he was an avid sailor whose love of the water was matched only by the joy he found in sharing stories and laughter with family and friends. He was the first to lend a helping hand to any who needed it and was a wealth of information. His ability to problem solve and fix things was legendary. He truly lived life to the fullest, always carrying a smile and a story to brighten the day.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Terri, his sons Jay and Mic, and his daughter Micaela and her husband Fred. He is predeceased by his sister Sharon. He is also remembered fondly by his first wife, Juliana Reilly, and by a vast circle of family and friends whose lives were touched by his warmth, humor, and generosity.
Mike achieved his life long dream by sailing living the cruising life with Terri, Jay and Mic for 3 plus years, on the S/V Life of Reilly, sailing from Newport throughout the islands and Caribbean to Grenada. The sailing community embraced him and will cherish his memory forever.
Those who knew Michael will remember him not only for his professional achievements but for his adventurous spirit, kindness, love of dogs, and the way he embraced every moment.

RIP MIKE, thank you for the chats, you always had fun stories.
Terri, may God give you strength, we are sorry for your loss.
We met Mike, Terri, Mic and Jay in Grenada, and still treasure the memories of all the laughter, tears and adventures we shared.
Living the life of Reilly might imply it was a carefree time, but somehow Captain Mike was always the first to help out when a boat broke its mooring, someone’s dinghy drifted off, or stranded cruisers needed a lift. Mike regaled us with funny work and sailing stories, sharing advice and the odd joke or two, as we met up at Hog, or La Phar or Whisper Cove.
We feel so honoured to have met Mike and his wonderful family, and he will be sorely missed. We’ll be raising a rum and coke (a Hog Island pour, don’t waste pricey coke!) in his memory.
Mike was a hero of a man. Time and again, he was there in our moments of stress, always showing up with calmness, kindness, and a steady hand. He had a gift for finding solutions and he gave us not just his skills, but his friendship. Mike and Terri and the boys carried their spirit of generosity throughout the Caribbean, touching the lives of so many. His quiet strength, his humor, and his willingness to lend a hand made every country feel safer and every challenge feel lighter. He was a man you could count on, and his legacy will live on in the stories we share and in the gratitude we hold. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Always love for Mike. ♥️
Not enough words to describe how wonderful of a man Mike was. Kind, considerate and funny just to name a few We are so very sorry for your loss ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
