Mary K. “Kathy” Kennedy

September 4, 1941 – August 13, 2025
Resident of Randolph, MA

Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Kennedy passed away peacefully at home at the age of 83 on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.  She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Kathy was born in  Squantum, MA on September 4, 1941 to Martha V. and James J. Clarke and raised in South Boston with her two sisters, Ellie & Ann, who predeceased her in the 1980s.  She attended South Boston High School and graduated in 1959.

In 1960, she was swept off her feet by the love of her life, Frank Kennedy. They were married shortly after in 1962.  Kathy and Frank went on to raise their three children, Frank, Maureen and Tim, first residing in Dorchester, then finally settling in Randolph.

Kathy was a homemaker in her early years and then went on to working in the banking industry, finally ending her career working in the Randolph Senior Center.  Kathy was an avid traveler – she was fond of cruising and traveling by camper with her young family.  Not a memory will be forgotten because of Kathy’s detailed travel journals.  After her retirement, she enjoyed accompanying Frank to craft fairs throughout New England, meeting many new faces and making friends. She had the gift of gab. She made friends with ease because of her welcoming nature.  She was a terrific listener – always there for her friends and family in their times of joy and need.  She often put others before herself, always giving and asking for nothing in return.

Kathy was best known for her giant capacity for love. Her husband and children meant everything to her, but her grandchildren were her “world”. She always made time for them and moved mountains to attend their activities and events.  Her grandchildren will miss her immensely.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Frank Kennedy, her children, Frank Kennedy, Jr. and his wife Carol of North Attleboro, Maureen Kennedy Tierney and her partner Peter Egan of East Bridgewater, and Tim Kennedy and his wife Kate of Hanover, her grandchildren, Maggie Kalunian & her husband Eddie, Ryan Kennedy, Erika Tierney, Shawna Tierney, Gavin Tierney, and Owen Kennedy and her beloved cat Bonnie.  She is also survived by her nieces, Mary Ellen Tesauro, Sharon Simpson, and her nephew Robert Simpson, and their families.   She was also deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her dearest friends Eileen McCormick, Josie Marini and Jean Doherty.

Funeral from the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 South Main Street (Rt. 28), Randolph on Wednesday, August 20th at 9:15am followed by a funeral mass at St. Michael Parish, 87 North Main Street, Avon at 10am.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from 4pm-7pm.  Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Randolph.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Kathy to Council on Aging/Randolph Senior Center or your favorite animal service organization/shelter.

We will forever cherish the memories we shared with her and find comfort in knowing that her love will continue to inspire us.
