Passed on July 14, 2021
Resident of Randolph, MA
Lorraine R. (Lavigueur) Radula, of Randolph, passed away July 14, 2021 at the age of 90.
Lorraine is survived by her loving husband Vincent “Vinny” Radula. Married for 63 years, Lorraine and Vinny met while Lorraine was waitressing at a restaurant. Vinny had to ask her on a date a few times before she agreed to go out with him. They got married on June 26, 1958 at St Paul’s Church in Worcester, Massachusetts. After getting married, they moved from Worcester to Maryland and then back to Worcester in 1968 before finally settling down in Randolph. You could find Lorraine and Vinny eating out at their favorite local restaurants many days of the week.
Besides her husband, Lorraine leaves three children, Bill, Craig and Diane. She enjoyed spending time with each of them. She was always there for her kids and would be up for going out for a visit anytime she had a chance.
Lorraine’s favorite activities were to spend time with family and friends, she loved activities with her grandchildren, playing games and recounting stories of her great travel adventures. Lorraine was often on the phone, chatting about the goings-on in the world and concerns over others welfare.
She loved the flowers in her yard and the vast public gardens of Boston parks. In her free time, Lorraine loved to travel and explore. She could be found exploring parks, libraries, shops and restaurants on her Saturday afternoon trips to Boston. One of her favorite spots was the Boston Public Library, visiting weekly as she was a voracious reader.
Lorraine’s love of animals and fascination with the natural world took her on trips all over the world, beginning with trips to Europe with Vinny then for years after with her daughter on vast adventures. She even went on solo adventures and met so many friends along the way. Her many memorable travels took her to the far reaches of the earth, including exploring The Great Wall of China, a Kenyian safari, touring around volcanoes in Costa Rica, riding an elephant in Thailand and coasting down the rivers through The Amazon where she loved staying in a tree top hotel full of monkeys. Her other numerous adventures included Machu Picchu, Australia, New Zealand and more.
When not travelling the globe, Lorraine loved to visit Sturbridge to spend time with her sister Lucille, husband Edwin Calcutt, and their 8 children. They were a loud bunch together with always a lot of laughs.
Lorraine will be missed but her laugh and love for family, friends and adventure will live on in our stories and memories.
Visiting hours will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St. (Rt. 28), Randolph on Saturday, July 17th from 12-2pm. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
