Justin Powers

Justin T. Powers

Passed on December 24, 2024
Resident of Acton, MA

On December 24th, Justin Powers of Acton, MA, tragically lost his battle with PTSD at the age of 40.  Justin was a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend who touched countless lives with his kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others. As a firefighter with the Avon fire department, a flight paramedic with the national guard and member of the education team with Boston MedFlight, Justin exemplified selflessness, always putting the needs of others before his own.

Beyond his professional dedication, Justin had a deep love for music, finding joy in playing his guitar and sharing his favorite songs with family and friends. He cherished the outdoors, often spending time hiking or rucking blue hills. Justin’s love for his niece and nephew was boundless—he took every opportunity to make them laugh.

Justin’s laughter, compassion, and unwavering presence will be cherished across generations, ensuring his memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. As his grandfather once said, “They broke the mold when they made him.”

Justin is survived by his beloved wife, Jen Wheeler Powers; his unborn twins (due June); his parents, Judy and Tom Powers; his brother, Jared; and his sister, Devon.

A fireman’s walkthrough will be held at St. Michael’s Church, 87 North Main St., Avon, on Friday, January 3rd at 3:45pm followed by public visiting hours from 4-8pm.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.  A funeral service will be held at St. Michael’s Church on Saturday, January 4th at 10:30am.  Interment private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Justin’s memory can be made to Run To Home Base.

I had the honor of briefly knowing Justin. In those few encounters I felt a kinship immediately. Most of what I knew about him I learned from my son Kyle who worked with him at Avon Fire. He was a mentor to my son. A big brother. With knowing that. The loss is monumental. I knew that with Justin leading the charge my son would be in good hands. Learning the field of paramedicine. Fire knowledge Ect. He brought so much to people in his short lived life. His loss is unfathomable. To his family. His coworkers. His community. His country he proudly served. Way to make an impact Justine. You family as well as your fire family will surely not let your legacy die. Forever in our hearts. Forever missed. Forever loved. From a Marine,Semper Fi. From a fellow Jake God speed. From my soul God bless and may the Lord keep you in his ever loving arms forever. We got from here as the firefighters always say. Peace brother.
