Joseph Merlo, a resident of Avon for 62 years, passed away March 23, 2026, after proudly reaching the age of 90.  Beloved husband for 67 years of Carol (Ingerson) Merlo.  Loving father of the late Deborah Merlo Forman of Easton, Dinise Barone and husband Michael of Avon, Diana O’Keefe of Norwell, and Darlene Madore of Bridgewater.  Cherished grandfather of 13: Evan, Tayla, Stephen, Joseph, Carolyn, Ryan, Janelle, Jen, Kimmy, Samantha, Laura, Paige, and Joseph.  Great-grandfather of 22 and was lovingly awaiting 3 additional great-grandchildren.  Joe was predeceased by his parents, Giusseppe & Maria (Costabello) Merlo, and his siblings, Aldo Merlo, Gino Merlo, Ines Corrigan, and Ivona Longo.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Joe was born and raised in Roxbury.  He was a tractor trailer driver for Hendries Frozen Foods for 20 years as a member of the Teamster local 170.

Later in life he followed his entrepreneurial spirit and founded a family-owned and operated embroidery and screen-printing business, a venture that reflected both his talent and dedication to his family.

Joe and his wife Carol spent many winters in Florida golfing and enjoying the beach with friends. He was a season-ticket holder and an avid fan of the Patriots.  His wife and family were his biggest love.

Funeral from the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St. (Rt. 28), Randolph, on Saturday, March 28th at 9:15am followed by a funeral mass at St. Michael’s Church in Avon at 10am.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.  Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 27th from 4-7pm.  Interment St. Michael’s Cemetery, Avon.
