John J. “Jack” Mooney, a resident of Dedham for 51 years, passed away at his new residence in Holbrook on March 16, 2025, surrounded by family. He was 82 years old. John was born in Boston on July 15, 1942, the son of the late Hugh B. Mooney and Elsie Olender and was born and raised in Dorchester. He was a Technical Illustrator for 25 years at Hewlett Packard in Waltham. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, boating, and waterskiing on the Cape.
Jack was a motorcyclist. He was part of the Star Touring and Riding Association chapter of Massachusetts. He served in the Army National Guard for 7 years.
Beloved husband of 52 years of Jeanne M. Fitzgerald. Loving father of Nicholas Stano and is wife Barbara (Curry) Stano of Weymouth, Michael Stano and is wife Terri (Mohan) Stano of Braintree, John Stano and his wife Kathy (Kelly) Stano of Rutland, and Todd B. Mooney of Vernon, CT. Devoted brother of Joan McCarron of Andover, Elaine Mooney of Quincy, and Maureen Bothfeld of VT. Cherished grandfather of Nicholas, Joseph, Rob, Joe, Jake, Caitlin, Rachel, Kristina, Caleb, Sophia, Dominick, Corryl, and Lucas.
Memorial visiting hours will be held at the Hurley Currie Funeral Home, 127 So. Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Holbrook on Saturday, March 29th from 10am-12pm followed a burial at Union Cemetery in Holbrook. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory can be made to the America Cancer Society via donate.cancer.org or plant a tree in John’s name.
