Jean F. Kelly Stowe

Passed on January 9, 2021
Resident of Randolph, MA

Jean Frances (Kelly) Stowe, of Randolph, passed away peacefully on January 9th at the age of 89. She was the daughter of the late Catherine Genevieve Kelly and John Francis Kelly, her grandparents immigrated from County Kerry and Dublin Ireland. She is predeceased by her former husband Ralph F. Stowe Sr. and predeceased by several of her siblings, the late Catherine Williams, Josephine Hart, and Frances Kelly. She also leaves behind John “Sonny” Kelly for whom she will continue to watch over.

Jean is survived by her dear and devoted sister Elizabeth Pires who has been a loving sister and an inspiration to her. She is also survived by her children Ralph & Donna Stowe of Randolph, Patty & Bob O’Connor of Randolph, Michael & Chaoying Stowe of Mount Vernon, NY, Mary & Tim Davies of Melrose, and Joseph & Kim Stowe of Easton.

She always had time and love for her cherished grandchildren who will miss her dearly, Kate and Jim Thibeault of Braintree, Meghan and TJ Hutton of Millis, Carrie and Matt Graham of Millis, Julie and Zach Asher of Cranston RI, Bridget and Dan Souilliard of Ledyard CT, Brendan Davies of Melrose, Maeve Stowe and Jared Stowe of Easton. She also cherished her great grandchildren, Andrew & Josephine Thibeault, Ronan Hutton and Rosalie Graham, who gave her a zest for life and endless joy.

She is also survived by many cherished nieces, and nephews whom she loved as her own children. She has always said that you all have filled her life with meaning, purpose, companionship and love. She wanted everyone to know how loved and appreciated you all are.

Jean was an amazing mother and instilled her Irish Catholic values in her children and grandchildren. She was a Catholic School teacher for the Archdiocese of Boston, until she retired from St Kevin’s school in Dorchester. One of her most valued possessions was a quilt from the Staff and teachers at Saint Kevin’s school when she retired, embroidered with the message “with loving gratitude for being a teacher”, which is proudly displayed in her dining room. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Parish in Randolph for over sixty years and had sparked many lively conversations on her religion and politics.

As we are all saddened by her passing, we know that Jean would remind everyone that the best remedy for sadness is to go and find your favorite Irish song and while you listen, make a cup of tea, and think of her as she will be with you in spirit. She will be greatly missed.

A private funeral mass was held at St. Mary’s Church in Randolph followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Randolph. Arrangements handled by the Hurley Funeral Home, Randolph. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: St Mary’s Communication Fund, 22 Seton Way, Randolph MA 02368.

Grandma, you’ll never know how much I miss you. You’ll never know how much I needed you. Especially after you left me. I needed you so badly during my horrible 4 years of college. But I finished it and graduated from BSU just like you. All I ever wanted in my life was to make you proud and to be just like you. You were my Grandma, my Mom, my best friend in the entire world and you were my hero. You shaped me into the man I am now. I would never have been here today if it weren’t for you. I love you with all my heart forever. I will remember the days we spent together from start to finish forever. Your love was the best blessing I had in my life and losing you was the biggest shot in the chest in the world. We’re closing in on 5 years without you and while time has healed in some ways, I still cry thinking of you and missing you and wishing I could’ve held your hand in your final moments like I always dreamed of doing from a young age. I always imagined squeezing your hand like you did for me, and whispering in your ear how much I loved you, like you did, and thanking you for everything you did for me. I know as a little boy, being able to spend so much exclusive time with me extended your life and gave you a reason to keep going, but you have no idea that the time we had means even more to me than it ever did to you. You saved my life Grandma. You’ll never know how much I loved you, and how much I will love you until I die. “May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be
always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you
in the palm of His hand” Grandma, I love you. I will keep living the way you showed me: without fear, with love, with fire, and with the heart of a warrior that never quits. Until we meet again…
Your Last Grandson, Your Best Friend,
    Jared M. Kelly-Stowe
