Gerald P. Good, Sr.
July 17, 1932 – December 22, 2024
Resident of Randolph, MA
Gerald P. Good Sr., of Randolph, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 22, 2024. Born on July 17, 1932, he was the son of the late Barbara Purcell Good and David J. Good and the adopted son of the late Alice Gallagher Good and Walter Good. Gerry was predeceased by his two brothers, Walter Jr. and David.
Gerry was the loving husband of Marjorie, who has been anxiously awaiting his arrival in Heaven for the last 6 years, and together, they raised 7 successful children, 28 remarkable grandchildren, including the late Eric Masinter, and 11 great grandchildren.
His 7 children- Gerald Good Jr of Norwell, Barbara Toohey of Hanover, Patricia Ryan of Hanson, Kathy Masinter of Arvada, CO, Maureen Finigan of Providence, RI, Timothy Good of Hanover and Daniel Good of South Dartmouth- and their families will miss him dearly.
Gerry spent the majority of his life in Randolph, where he was an active member of his community and was involved in countless groups including: the Boy Scouts, Kiwanis Clubs, Elks, Rotary Club and Lions Club where he was recognized as a Melvin Jones Fellow by the Lions Club International Foundation. He also served honorably as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy from 1954-1956. Gerry was the proud owner of Good Brothers Ford, founded in Randolph in 1924 by his father and uncles, which he ran until he passed it onto his sons.
Gerry was an accomplished athlete. Besides skiing and fishing, he excelled in baseball, playing at Holy Cross and in the prestigious Cape Cod League, and was honored with induction into Thayer Academy’s Hall of Fame. At age 33, Gerry discovered running, completing over 30 marathons and achieving a best time in Boston of 2:50. His athletic pursuits evolved to include triathlons, where he competed at the World Triathlon Championships. In his later years, Gerry found joy in kayaking with his fishing pole in hand and his beloved dog, Derby, by his side.
Gerry’s heart and soul could be found at New Silver Beach in North Falmouth, where he would spend his days watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren enjoy the beach and for the last few summers, found amusement in making everyone look twice when he would insist on getting in the kayak with his dog, Derby, for a quick paddle.
Gerry’s “I’m always Good” in response to how he was doing, will echo in our hearts and minds forever. There will never be another like him, and we will miss him very much.
