Florence was born on January 26, 1931 to William J. and Ruth P. VanNamee in Malden, MA and later lived in Weymouth, MA.
She was the beloved wife of the late Harold O. Bland, Jr. and the devoted mother of Ruth A. (Bland) and her husband James Hathaway. She is also survived by grandsons Daniel J. Following her graduation from Weymouth High School, Florence was employed by Weymouth Light and Power Company. After raising her family, she worked for Randolph Savings Bank. She retired as an Assistant Treasurer and Branch Manager of the Holbrook Office in 1991. She and Harold enjoyed travelling extensively and spending time at their summer home on Mousam Lake in Shapleigh, ME.
In her free time, Florence was an avid gardener and talented cook and baker. Never one to sit with nothing to do, she always had some handwork in progress. Her friends and family were grateful recipients of her quilted pieces and crocheted afghans.
There were no visiting hours and burial was private. Donations may be made to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, 611 Granite Springs Rd., Yorktown Heights, NY 10598.
