Felismina “Nha Mina” Gomes
January 24, 1924 – November 24, 2025
Resident of Randolph, MA
Felismina “Nha Mina” Gomes, 101, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, surrounded by the family who adored her.
Born on January 24, 1924, and raised in Fogo, Cape Verde, she was the daughter of Julia Gomes & Tedeu Rodrigues
At 57 years old, with extraordinary courage and determination, she left her homeland to begin a new life in America. A journey marked by sacrifice, resilience, and unwavering faith.
Felismina was the proud matriarch of a beautiful and ever-growing family:
seven children, twenty-six grandchildren, fifty-two great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren. She poured wisdom into each generation, teaching them through her words and her example. Her message was steady and heartfelt: be kind, give freely, help those who have less, and always show up for those who need you.
Anyone who knew Nha Mina knew two things she would feed you, and she would tell you the truth. Her honesty was legendary: bold, direct, and always fair. Even when her words were sharp, they carried love, and no one ever left her presence feeling anything but respected and cared for.
Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and the rich aromas of her cooking. Whether you were family or a visitor, she insisted you eat and then eat some more. Feeding people was her love language, and she expressed it with joy, pride, and generosity.
Nha Mina also found deep joy in sewing. Her sewing machine was never far from reach, always ready for her next creation or fix. She took great pride in her appearance, her hair neatly done, her outfits coordinated and elegant. She carried herself with dignity and grace every single day.
She leaves behind her six loving children: Querinino Gomes, Julia Gomes, Francisco Gomes, Arthur Gomes, Francisca Gomes, and Irma Gomes. She is also survived by her 26 grandchildren, her 52 great-grandchildren, and her 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her beloved son Antonio Gomes Junior, her husband Antonio Gomes, her siblings Tété, Maniginha,Meretche Quim and Maninho along with her grandchildren Victor Gomes, Ricardo (“Ricky”) Gomes, and Natalino (“Nat”) Gomes.
