Elinor L. (McGaughey) Cassidy

Elinor L. Cassidy, 90, of Bridgton, Maine died peacefully at home on Saturday, Jun 15, 2024 surrounded by family.

Daughter of the late Francis W. McGaughey and Emily T. (O’Neill) McGaughey.  Elinor was born in Brockton, MA and grew up in Holbrook, MA, graduating Salutatorian with the 1951 class at Sumner High School.

Elinor graduated from Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse in 1955.

Elinor is predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years, David W. Cassidy of Bridgton, ME.  She is survived by her beloved children David W. Jr. (Kathy) of Westfield, MA, Dennis J. (Cynthia) of Naples, ME, Thomas M. (Karen) of Albany Twp, ME, James F. (Susan) of S. Weymouth, MA, Peter R. (Juanita) of Hartford, ME, and Maureen H. Walther (Brien) of Jackson Twp., NJ.  She is also survived by her grandchildren; Lauren Cassidy of Amherst, MA., Katie Cassidy Davis (Adam) of Windham, ME, Kevin Cassidy of Brooklyn, NY, Emily Cassidy of Casco, ME, James Cassidy (Nicole) of Hingham, MA, Colleen Cassidy Reilley of Abington, MA, Patrick Walther of Chapel Hill, NC, and predeceased by Sarah Walther of Jackson Twp., NJ.  She is also survived by her great-grandchildren; Grace and Joan Davis, Nora and Isla Cassidy, and Cole Loreng.

Elinor “Gram” to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved having them visit her at the family cottage in Sebago, ME.  She loved the beach and always planned fun activities with them.  Her homemade cakes were enjoyed by all.

Funeral from the Hurley Currie Funeral Home, 127 So. Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Holbrook, on Friday, June 21^st at 10:15am followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph Church in Holbrook at 11am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.  Visiting hours will be held Thursday, June 20^th from 4-7pm.  Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Randolph.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Elinor’s memory may be made to Give Kids the World Village, 210 S. Bass Rd., Kissimmee, FL 34746.
