Edward T. Lynch, Avon Ma, 84, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026. Born on April 16, 1941, in South Boston, he was a lifelong Massachusetts resident who carried deep pride for his roots and community.
Edward graduated from South Boston High School and immediately began a long and dedicated career in banking at The First National Bank of Boston, where he worked for 48 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 40 years, Dianne (Politano) Lynch; his daughter, Donna Lynch-Butler, and her husband, Ed Butler, of Chicopee, Massachusetts; his sister, Mary Credit of Avon, Massachusetts; and his cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth, Allyson, Ryan, and George, all of Chicopee. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Carol Herrera of East Boston and Norma Politano of Brockton; his brother-in-law, Joe Politano of Revere; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Edward was predeceased by his parents, James and Gertrude Lynch; his son, Edward T. Lynch Jr.; his brothers, John and James Lynch; his sister, Anne Roche; and his brothers in-law, John Herrera, John Politano, and Jerry Politano.
Edward will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a kind and selfless man who always put others first. He had a passion for Boston sports, enjoyed trips to the casinos, and loved playing cribbage. Some of his happiest moments were spent taking rides and visiting the park with his grandchildren and having barbecues. His favorite food was Chinese and steak and cheese grinders. He was easygoing, warm, and one of a kind—someone whose presence can never be replaced.
A Mass will be held on Thursday, April 9, at Saint Michael Church in Avon Mass at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at Saint Michael Cemetery, with a gathering immediately afterward. That will be announced during the end of the service.
