Edward L. McCarthy
Passed on December 5, 2023
Resident of Abington - Randolph, MA
Edward L. McCarthy – (Ed) Of Abington, formerly of Randolph (USMC Retired). Passed away on Tuesday December 5, 2023. Ed was the son of the late George and Alice (Sweeney) McCarthy. Cherished husband of Paula (Lane) McCarthy of Abington. Dad of Kerri Willis & her husband Paul of Whitman, Mike & his wife Kim of Abington, Jack & his wife Deidre of Abington. Loving Bubba of Courtney, Tom & Kevin Willis, Molly, Joe & Grace McCarthy, Declan, Shaelyn, & Laney McCarthy. Ed is also survived by his siblings and spouses; Richard & Linda McCarthy, Marilyn & Paul Kreckler , Jim McCarthy and the late David McCarthy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ed loved 3 things more than life itself; his wife Paula, his family and the Marine Corp. Paula & Ed marked 59 years of their first date this past Thanksgiving. They shared 55 years of marriage this past September. He would drop anything to give us and especially the grandkids a ride to practice, Dunks, McDonalds or a friend's house. He cherished his daily “loops” with his brother Rich where they solved all the world's problems or his weekly “IRA” meetings with Rich and his cousin Paul McCarthy. He loved his time in the Marine Corp but our mother more, so he left, and they settled in Randolph where they first met. He expected a happy birthday twice a year; on his actual birthday in June and then again in November for the Marine Corp birthday. The Marines propelled what today's standards would call OCD, but he referred to as “squared away”.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary’s Church 211 North Main St. Randolph on Monday December 18, 2023 @10:00AM. Visiting hours Sunday December 17,2023 2-5pm at Hurley Funeral Home 143 South Main St. Randolph. Flowers are appreciated however they would have made Ed sneeze and his eyes water. The family would also appreciate a donation in Ed’s name to Tunnels to Towers. https://t2t.org/
