Mary (Boyd) O’Brien

Mary (Boyd) O’Brien, a longtime resident of Holbrook, passed away September 22, 2026, at the age of 93.  Born in Boston, she was one of 11 children of James and Barbara Boyd.  She loved socializing with her friends, going to the casino, and scratch tickets.  Her favorite holiday was St. Patrick’s Day.  Mary was known for her Irish Breads, and she made the best mashed potatoes with cream and Irish butter.  She enjoyed having tea with her wonderful neighbor Karen, giving out candy for Halloween, and the Holbrook Council on Aging’s cookouts and activities.  Mary loved her children and her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Beloved wife of the late John P. O’Brien.  Loving mother of John “Jackie” O’Brien and his wife Alice of Holbrook, MaryEllen Creutz of Holbrook, and the late Kevin O’Brien.  Cherished grandmother of Sean, Allyson, and Kelly O’Brien of Holbrook, Stefani and her husband Mike Nichols of Abington, Kerrie O’Brien of Whitman, Ryan Creutz of Attleboro, Garrett and his wife Samantha Creutz of Attleboro, and great-grandmother of Jackson, Lucas, Thomas, and Baby Creutz due in December 2026.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Hurley Currie Funeral Home, 127 So. Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Holbrook on Wednesday, September 30^th at 9:15am followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph Church in Holbrook at 10am.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.  Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 29^th from 4-7pm.  Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
