Derek R. Ladderbush
January 14, 1985 – July 19, 2025
Resident of Holbrook, MA
Derek R. Ladderbush, a Local 7 Ironworker from Holbrook, died unexpectedly on July 19, 2025, while on vacation with his family in their favorite place, Point Sebago.
Derek is survived by his sons Brayden and Nolan, his loving fiancé Meaghan Collins, her dad and one of his best friends Thomas Collins, Meaghan’s siblings: Kristen, Lauren, Bella and Dylan, his mother Joyce Ladderbush, his sisters Jill Melendez and her Husband Alex, and Sheri Rios Graziano and her family, his nieces and nephews Angel, Gabino, Gynessa, Gynesis and Theo, his Uncle Randy and Aunt Lorraine, his cousins Corey Ladderbush (and family) and Tyler Ladderbush, his aunt Brenda Ladderbush, and many friends.
Derek grew up in Somerville, MA. He was a Veteran of the United States Army National Guard. He was an avid sports fan, a Lego enthusiast, a sneaker head and a lover of all things Marvel. He was Nikes biggest fan, and he loved fishing. The best fish he ever caught was Meaghan. The two of them did everything together and created a beautiful life. The best way to describe Derek was by the kind of dad he was. After an injury on the job, he became a stay-at-home dad to Nolan and the two of them spent every day living their best lives together. Being a dad was his greatest accomplishment and thing he valued most in life. They were best friends. He was a true family man and the greatest Uncle. Derek was a handyman often working on his cars or boat and fixing or upgrading something around the house. He was a problem solver and enjoyed helping others. He was the kind of man that would give you the shirt off his back.
Honoring Derek would not be possible without including his special bond with his nephew Angel. Next to his children there is no one that he loved as deeply and no one he was prouder of. Derek cherished their relationship and thoroughly enjoyed the fact that they were raising sons together.
Some people are lucky enough to have one best friend, but Derek was lucky enough to have two: Charlie and Sam. Whether it was attending sports events together, their yearly “guys weekend”, being there for all life’s major events or running to one another in crisis they were always there for each other. Derek was also the proud Uncle of Sam’s son Julian.
Derek was a great man, an even greater father, a provider, a protector, a reliable friend, loving brother, fun uncle, a good neighbor and he will greatly missed by all that loved and knew him. As Nolan would say “I love you too much, the most a mission!”

Derek, the news of your passing was shocking, not only did I loose another best friend of 30 plus years i lost another brother. Life may have taken us down different paths over the last decade and we havent seen each other the way we once did but our friendship didn’t need the traditional bs others consider what makes their friends, didn’t matter how much time had past all we had to do is pick up the phone and we’d be there no questions asked. It sucks that last time we seen each other was at a funeral and not nearly for long enough and knowing im going to see you now for the last time at your own. But I have a lifetime of memories to look back on from the best of times to the worst, and I wouldn’t trade one great time for one of the worst because every moment we shared and endured made us who we are and why our friendship could with stand the test of time… til we meet again love you buddy
I will always miss you
