Alfred E. DuBois, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Entertainer.

Alfred E. DuBois, age 85, of Avon, Massachusetts passed away on November 23, 2022. He is survived by his three daughters, Deborah Zanellato of Avon, Ellen DuBois and her fiance Charles Malo of Easton and Lori Saville and her husband Rick of Easton. He is also survived by his grandchildren Luigi Zanellato, Toni Illes and her husband Ryan, Madeline Saville, Sean Saville, his great grandchildren Jacob Pierce and Savannah Illes and his Goddaughter Diane Lloyd. Preceding him in death was his beloved wife of fifty-four years Marlane DuBois, son David DuBois and his parents Alfred L. and Ellen C. DuBois.

Al grew up in Dorchester, where he attended Boston Latin High School and went on to attend the New Conservatory of Music which is where he met his wife, Marlane. He enjoyed minstrel shows, baseball and music when younger and eventually discovered his passion for the piano. When he wasn't working or entertaining others with his gift of music, he loved spending time with his family, was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing golf. On occasion he was known to enjoy some laughs at the nineteenth hole. Al never knew a stranger or enemy and always created a connection with anyone he came into contact with. He was just one of those types of people.

In addition, Al proudly served in the United States Army Reserves for eight years.

While Al would hate the word “famous” and swore that he was practically unknown, he was loved by thousands of fans all over the North and South Shore and beyond. As the keyboard player of the Melody Men trio in the 60's and 70's, a solo pianist and keyboard player at hundreds of venues, a church organist and even a guest on The Ed Sullivan Show back in the 1950's, (with his single "Hot Rod"), Al was able to share his talent and musical prowess with many, including entertaining those in nursing homes during the later part of his career. His love of music and desire to share it as both an entertainer and teacher uplifted and enriched the lives of countless others, which meant the world to him. Al had a passion for music, both in playing it and in writing it, oftentimes co-writing music and lyrics with his wife.

It's not the years on a headstone that count, but how the dash was lived in between. Al lived his dash with love, humanity, acceptance, faith and music. He will be missed.

Services will be held at The Hurley Funeral Home in Randolph on Wednesday, November 30th from 11-1 followed by a burial at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.rheumresearch.org
