Emily Hassell, 98, longtime resident of Holbrook, passed away on November 30, 2023, in Quincy.

Emily was the daughter of the late Bonifacio and Virginia Casciano, who immigrated from Popoli, Italy, in the early 1900s, and settled in Hyde Park. Devoted wife and mother, she is predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Donald S. Hassell; by her son, Stephen; and by her beloved Casciano siblings, Mary, Tony, Ato, Margaret, Rocco, Edith, and Evelyn. Survived by her children Virginia Campbell of Norwich, CT (Diane Murphy); Daniel Hassell of Norwell (Kathleen); Mary Hassell-Hunt of Rumford, RI (John Sousa); Alan Hassell of Arlington (Susan Zwick); and her #6, Susan Esancy of Beverly. Loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Emily is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St. (Rt. 28), Randolph, on Wednesday, December 6th from 9am-11am followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary Church in Randolph at 11:30am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment Union Cemetery, Holbrook. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels at sselder.org (South Shore Elder Services, 350 Granite St., Suite 2303, Braintree MA 02184); Pat Roche Hospice Home (nvna.org); or a hospice provider of your choosing.

    So sorry to hear of Mrs.Hassell’s passing. I was a neighbor of the Hassell family on Westdale Road for many years. Don and Emily were great people and always willing to lend a hand. Many a big snow storm we would all be out in the street clearing in all away together….Ah the memories!! Rest In Peace
