Marissa Lynn Hoerr
Passed on December 4, 2023
Resident of Randolph, MA
Marissa Lynne Hoerr, 23, of Randolph Massachusetts, died suddenly at home on December 4, 2023. She graduated this summer, summa cum laude, with a bachelor’s degree from Bridgwater State University. She was proud to have two poems published this year in the literary journal Nocturne’s 20th anniversary issue. They were “I’ll Have a Pumpkin Coffee,” and “Im Not Good at Gratitude.”
Marissa enjoyed singing, dancing, and performing, loved her friends, and was amazing at helping those friends through their toughest moments. She wrote a chapbook called Release It All and was working on a book called Beautifully Human. In a poem called “I thought by now I would have written a book about what it took to overcome my struggles” she wrote “I think/I am tired of hearing about success stories/Tell me a story/About/The journey.” Marissa struggled for a decade against an eating disorder. She also struggled more recently with other mental health challenges.

I held you as a newborn. So excited to meet you.
You had so much love to give.
You decided to move on from this world.
I know you are at peace now. I love you. RIP.
Aunt Christine
Dear Marissa,
You were my cousin but in life you became a best friend to me. I love you with all of my heart and soul. I've always admired your deep capacity for empathy and the unconditional love you had for friends and family. I am so very proud of the life you led always caring for and easing the burden of others; including myself. I know you also felt that burden. You taught me that there's a lot of pain and sorrow in this world but there is also an infinite capacity for love and beauty. You were beautifully human. I will never forget you and you will be missed until we meet again.
Forever Love,
Rachael Leighton
Dear Marissa's loved ones,
I only knew Marissa a short time since she only worked at the living Room a short time but she supported me so compassionately and caringly through one of my most difficult times of my life as a guest. I used to have a home in Randolph and talked about the area a great deal. She was a rare gem and although it sounds cliche Heaven received an exceptionally caring compassionate angel. I will have fond memories of spending time with her. God called her home way too soon.
With all my sympathy.
