Richard ‘Dickie’ N. McLane

Richard N. (Dickie) McLane, of Avon, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2022 at the age of 82, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Pittsfield, and graduated from Boston Technical High School. He was employed as a truck driver for Star Market and a long-time member of Teamsters Local 25. He was a devoted fan of the Boston Bruins and NASCAR. Richard enjoyed maintaining his yard, pool and caring for his many birds. He was an active member of The Polish White Eagles in Brockton.

Richard was the beloved husband of the late Ruth McLane (Callahan). Son of the late John E. McLane (BFD) and Margaret (MacDonald). Richard is survived by his children Maureen Morrissey, Sheila Crane, John McLane all of Avon and Scott McLane and his partner Christine O’Brien of Bridgewater. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Heather Crane of Avon, Jennifer Crane and her fiancé Kyle McCallister of Swansea, and Christine Tresca (Crane) and her husband Austin Tresca of Avon. Richard leaves behind his sisters Marian McLane of Allston and Joan Beaton of Allston, as well as his brother Roderick of Waltham. He is also survived by his dear aunt Katherine MacDonald of Judique, Nova Scotia, Canada. Richard leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins locally and in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The family would like to thank all who cared for Richard during his brief illness.

Funeral from the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St. (Rt. 28), Randolph on Saturday, February 5th at 9:15am followed by a funeral mass at St. Michael’s Church in Avon at 10am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 4th from 4-7pm. Interment St. Michael’s Cemetery, Avon.
