Mary E. (Hunter) Neville of Avon, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday Aug. 13. She was 86. Mrs. Neville was the loving wife of the late Edward E. Neville.
Born in Dorchester on Oct. 22, 1930, Mary was the daughter of the late Henry and Bridget (Murray) Hunter. For many years she worked as a bank office administrator and assisted in the loan and credit departments. She enjoyed creating needlepoint crafts, playing Bingo and reading. Mary enjoyed the ocean, especially spending time at the beaches of Cape Cod with her family. She was an ardent fan of Neil Diamond, Judge Judy and the “Housewives.” After raising her own children “Nana” immersed herself in the lives of her grandchildren. She attended many soccer matches, gymnastic events, swim meets and hockey games. “Nana” never missed a special occasion or chance to be with her family.

Mary is the loving mother of Denise Healy and her husband Don of Moncks Corner, SC, Susan Morrison and her husband Ken of Londonderry, NH, Barry Neville and his wife Kim of Hooksett, NH, Beth Shea of Mansfield and her late husband Joseph and Julie Bailey and her husband Jeff of Hanson. She was the sister to Margaret “Judy” Collins of West Roxbury and the late Henry “Bud” Hunter. Mrs. Neville is also survived by her nine grandchildren; Tim, Paul, Scott, Patrick, Emily, Edward, Olivia, Sam and Jimmy; and one great-granddaughter, Winny.

Her funeral will be from the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St. (Rte. 28) Randolph on Friday Aug. 18 at 9:15am. Followed by a funeral Mass in St. Michael’s Church, 87 No. Main St. (Rte. 28) Avon at 10am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours are Thursday 5-8pm. Interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Avon.
The battle against Autism was near and dear to Mary’s heart. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Arc of Northern Bristol County 141 Park Street Attleboro, MA 02703.
